Jen Crowe, IVA Teacher in Training
Jen has studied classical singing since childhood, initially with Cantamus Girls’ Choir based in the East Midlands, then taking private lessons through her 20s and 30s. Jen’s sprawling, musical family has been instrumental in her love for singing, with their spontaneous sessions singing folk, pop, rock and musical theatre (and even attempting Tom Lehrer songs under duress!)
Jen stumbled across IVA’s methodology whilst looking for a new voice tutor and was both stunned and delighted at the clear methodology and rapid vocal improvements lessons the technique produced. Always one for learning how things work, Jen took the leap into a career change at the grand middle age of 41, and joined IVA’s Accredited Teacher Course in March 2023. She is currently a Year 1 teacher in training with IVA.
In her other life, Jen worked extensively in science-based fields and knows first hand the benefits of music for health, wellbeing, personal balance and vital self-expression. Jen’s student base ranges from children learning to find their voices, to young adults in bands, to retired people exploring long-held interests. Jen is a fun, positive and encouraging teacher who values the joy of singing, even when training voices with scales! She is a master of putting her students quickly at ease so they can develop their best voices whilst having fun. No matter what your age or experience, you’ll find that you will surprise yourself in no time!
