Nell was fantastic! She was very encouraging and patient and I enjoyed my lesson with her.

A professional but friendly approach. A thorough coverage and skilful tutor – teaching and coaching well but also balancing the gap between desire and ability!

I’ve been having singing lessons with Laura for over a year now and it’s been great! It got me from being scared to sing or practice at home because my flatmates might hear, to being able to sing in front of my friends and bandmates and even perform on stage on few occasions. The lessons help me to gain confidence both in my singing ability and myself. Laura is a very supportive, positive and encouraging teacher with a passion for what she does. Taking lessons also taught me how much easier and faster learning can be when there is someone to guide you!

‘I really enjoy my lessons with Laura, she makes me feel really relaxed and we have a lot of fun during the lesson. I have always sung with theatre groups, but not always very well! Having lessons with Laura has helped me improve my singing and I feel more confident about singing by myself!’

I could not recommend Tom and Laura highly enough!! From the very first lesson I felt like my voice was drawn out of me…I heard a sound I’d never heard before and it felt fantastic! I remember leaving that first lesson being on a complete high and this feeling continued and my voice got stronger and stronger.
I picked up the guitar at 30 and became very passionate about it. I always felt I could sing in tune and had some kind of voice but felt I was limited by it’s lack of strength and range – I felt I could only sing certain songs that were perfectly within a range I could cope with. My aim was to get to the point where I would be comfortable hearing myself sing along with the guitar in front of other people and get to the point where I felt confident to play with others in a band and perform.
2 years on and I am so happy that I am now part of a band where we have done some busking and are working towards our first gig at the end of this year. I very recently also played my first set (solo) at an open mic and could not believe the reception I received! It felt so amazing to be given such positive and lovely feedback from talented musicians and singers! The Events Manager who runs these open mics was keen to book me in to play sets at other bars throughout the week.
They say that tennis is a very psychological sport and I think the same goes for singing! Not only do Tom and Laura find your voice but they also find your confidence and inspire you to let go of any insecurities you may have had around your voice…that can go back a long way! I remember the moment when I was about 10 years old and two friends were picked over me to be part of a singing show…that moment really stuck with me and I think I always felt I would never have a good voice. Tom helped me to see that everyone has had experiences like this and that you’re not to see the voice as something you either have or do not have. It is an instrument like any other – if you practise and are committed to it, just like any other instrument, you will get good at it!
I cannot thank Tom and Laura enough…without you I wouldn’t be singing in a band right now and doing what I only dreamed I could do…never thought this would be possible! It’s never too late to live your dreams!!

I feel that the lessons have really helped my confidence, and to be uninhibited as a singer, I can go for really high notes, or sing difficult songs, in styles that I was less confident in, without worrying as much about how I sound, as I know that if I something doesn’t work, that it can usually be easily fixed through an exercise. If not I can trust that it is part of the process, and the exercises over time will get me there. This is also helped by the instructor (Tom) being very supportive and encouraging, while managing to give constructive feedback.
Having had previous lessons that were not recorded, I really see the difference and the benefits off the whole lesson being recorded, and getting my own CD at the end. This encourages me to practice in between sessions, and I learn so much from just listening to how I sounded. I love a challenge so I like how the exercises get progressively harder, this helps to keep it interesting and helps me to see how much I have progressed.

I’ve spent so long keeping my inner self quiet and outer self pleasant. I feel honoured, still every week, to have had an hour with an amazing teacher who wants to hear, and is helping me bring out, what’s really in there. Oh, and she helps me sing better too!! Thank you!!

I first contacted Laura after I began struggling with nerves and performance anxiety when I was singing. This was starting to affect my job as a professional musician, and my incredibly low self-esteem and confidence was inhibiting my performances. Laura’s kindness, support and bubbly personality instantly put me at ease and really allowed me to open-up as a singer and regain my confidence. Her knowledge of how to improve the voice and tackle performance anxiety is invaluable, and she would tailor each session to reflect what I wanted to work on that day. Laura has helped me to perform with little, or no nerves, and has brought back my passion for singing. I would recommend her to anyone looking to start singing, improve their technique, try new styles, learn performance techniques and overcome nerves… so basically everyone!
I cannot thank Laura enough for everything she has helped me with!

I always loved singing since I was a child, but I lost all my confidence as a teenager and developed a crippling stage fright. I started to work with Laura 5 years ago and she helped me a lot to improve my vocal technique and my confidence in singing. I started the lessons saying that I just want to do it for the fun and would have never imagined to be in front of an audience ever again, but she supported me to get to a level where I was able to go to open mic nights. Soon I was writing my own original material and performed at gigs in a band or on my own with my guitar. In addition to improving my voice she also taught me some tools I can use every time I perform, which I found very useful when I struggle with stage fright. Laura is very knowledgeable, super nice and fun to work with. I can recommend Laura to anyone who is aspiring to become a performer, but anxiety is in their way.

I just want to thank you for making your magic! As I mentioned in the last couple of weeks I was a bit demotivated, possibly more due to work, than anything else, but after our lesson last week I found my motivation again. It has been a combination of your positive encouragement and the new songs. So, I’m back on track! And looking forward to our lesson this evening.
I started singing lessons to sing better (obviously), because I was so self-conscious of how I sounded or anyone hearing me after years of bullying that I ingrained some very deep-rooted fears inside my head. And when I started working with Laura, I didn’t think about overcoming these barriers or about confidence issues, I just thought if I sing well, then it’s fine, and that’s what I wanted to do – to sing well. But working with Laura over the past year, she has helped me realise that we don’t need to be perfect 100% of the time. I’ve become more confident and comfortable with singing at a regular volume and with the idea of being overheard whether it’s by a neighbour, family, singing in the car with my friends… Laura has helped me overcome this ‘performance’ anxiety that I’ve been living with since childhood. And overcoming this anxiety has ironically also made me a better singer because I’m not as afraid to try, or fail. I will always be eternally grateful – it has changed my life.
