How do I know if singing lessons are for me?

By Laura Dumbleton

How do I know if singing lessons are for me?We get asked this question quite a lot when prospective students wish to book a lesson. But, to answer it honestly, we first need to ask you three questions:

  1. Do you love to sing?
  2. Do you want to get better at it?
  3. Are you prepared to put some work into getting better?

If you can answer yes to two or three of these questions, then it is highly likely you will enjoy taking singing lessons.

The first step to finding out whether singing lessons are for you is to book an initial lesson with the person you want to study with. You aren’t going to find out just sitting at home!

Here at Your Voice Studio Edinburgh, we are committed to helping our students be the best they can be. Our lessons are tailored to your voice, and will be focused on helping you achieve your goals as a singer, regardless of whether you want to be able to sing better in the shower, or in front of 1000 people at a concert.

Both Tom and Laura have nearly a 50/50 split of students – half want to be able to sing better for themselves, and the other half are performing musicians. We are well equipped to help both beginners and advanced students, and everyone in between!

There is no pressure on you to be a certain way, or a certain type of singer, or anything like that. We want you to be the singer you want to be – we won’t ask you to sing anything that you don’t like, or try to put you in a classical box if you are a rock singer. In fact, the more different types of music we hear, the merrier!

So, what are you waiting for? If you want to find out whether singing lessons are for you – then get in touch with us. Send us an enquiry using the form on the website, send us an email or even find us on our social media channels. We’d love to hear from you!
